Cancellation and Changes to End-of-Life Doula Support
I recognise that end-of-life care is often unpredictable. A person’s condition can change very quickly, plans can change from one day to the next, and sometimes a death happens sooner or later than anyone anticipated.
My intention is always to approach changes with compassion, understanding and flexibility.
If plans change unexpectedly
If the person’s condition changes, they are admitted to hospital or hospice, or my support is no longer needed for another reason connected with their end-of-life journey, please let me know as soon as you can.
If the person dies before planned support takes place, I will not charge for support that has not been provided. Any work already undertaken, including visits, consultations, planning, travel or agreed preparation, remains payable.
Cancelling or postponing support
If you need to cancel or postpone support for reasons unrelated to an unexpected change in the end-of-life situation, I ask that you give me as much notice as possible.
Where there is sufficient notice, I will do my best to release the time and offer it to someone else, and no cancellation charge will applied.
As a guide:
More than 7 days' notice: no cancellation charge will apply.
Between 48 hours and 7 days' notice: I may charge up to 50% of the agreed fee for the time reserved.
Less than 48 hours' notice or a missed appointment: I may charge the full agreed fee for the time reserved.
These timeframes are intended as guidance rather than rigid rules. I will always consider the circumstances and use my discretion.
Rescheduling
I am very happy to reschedule support where I can. I understand that things can change quickly at the end of life, and I will always try to accommodate a change of date or time.
I will always aim to communicate openly, act with compassion and treat each situation individually.
